Microsoft's AI Coworker Bills Per Task
23JUN
Microsoft's AI coworker, Copilot Cowork, is now live worldwide. It runs long multi-step tasks and bills by usage, not a flat seat. Half the Fortune 500 already use it. It runs on Claude.
Copilot Cowork hit general availability June 16. It finishes complex work end-to-end, not just drafts.
Billing is usage-based, in Copilot Credits, at one cent each on pay-as-you-go. Price per task depends on model, context, tools, and runtime. It is off by default, with spend limits.
It runs on Anthropic's Opus 4.8 and Sonnet 4.6 today. Microsoft's own test claims it is 30-40% cheaper than Claude's Cowork. A cheaper in-house model, Cowork 1, is coming.
