Tribeca Premieres Its First AI Feature
13JUN
A feature film with no human actors just played Tribeca. Dreams of Violets, made by two brothers with AI for $2,000, just premiered. The festival door cracked open for synthetic movies.
Ash and Pooya Koosha built the whole thing - cast, sets, crowds - with generative AI. The 75-minute drama recreates Iran's January 2026 protests from news reports and eyewitness accounts.
No human appears on screen. The budget was about $2,000. A normal indie film at this length runs into the millions.
Tribeca framed it as a first, not a stunt. Watch whether other major festivals follow or quietly draw a line.
