Anthropic Pledges $350M For Displaced Workers
13JUN
The lab building the disruptor is funding the safety net. Anthropic pledged $350 million to study and soften AI job loss. CEO Dario Amodei now says displacement may be unavoidable.
The $350 million splits two ways. A $200 million fund tests fixes like wage insurance and retraining grants. The other $150 million launches Claude Corps.
Claude Corps pays early-career workers $85,000 a year to work at nonprofits. The first cohort is 100 fellows. Applications close July 17.
Amodei's framing is the real signal. He says job loss may be built into how AI copies human thinking. His backstop if it gets bad: UBI taxed from AI firms.
